Responsible gambling

The tools on this page take two minutes to set up. Do it on a calm day, before a losing streak makes the decision for you.

Betting is paid entertainment

Every sportsbook and casino is built to make money over time, and a good weekend doesn't change the maths. Treat your deposit like the price of a ticket to Benjamin Mkapa Stadium: money spent on an afternoon out. Once it's paid, it's gone.

House rules worth keeping

  • Decide a weekly budget and don't top it up with rent, school fees or stock money.
  • Don't chase losses. A bigger stake to win it back usually digs the hole deeper.
  • No betting after drinks, after a fight or after a bad day at work.
  • Never borrow to bet, and that includes mobile loans.
  • Take breaks. Live betting and Aviator are fast, and an hour goes by in what feels like ten minutes.

Controls in your GreenBet account

Everything sits in the account settings and works from the moment you save it. Lowering a limit is instant. Raising one only takes effect after a cooling-off period.

While you are self-excluded, don't open a new account. The operator closes any it finds. You can also ask your mobile money provider whether it can block payments to betting merchants on your line.

Warning signs

Read the list and answer for yourself. If two or more sound familiar, stop for a while and talk to somebody.

  1. You bet more, and more often, than you meant to.
  2. You hide bets from your family or play down your losses.
  3. You get restless or snappy when you can't bet.
  4. You've borrowed or sold things to keep betting.
  5. Betting is starting to hurt your work, studies or relationships.

Where to get help

  • The Gaming Board of Tanzania publishes guidance on responsible gambling at gamingboard.go.tz.
  • Gamblers Anonymous holds free online meetings in English.
  • A doctor or counsellor can refer you to mental health services at a regional hospital.
  • Tell someone you trust: a friend, a relative, your pastor or imam.

Keeping children away from betting

Accounts are for adults only. Age is checked during verification, and accounts opened by minors get closed. If your kids use your phone, log out of betting apps, don't save the password and switch on parental controls in Android or iOS.
